N’hoval Cove -

€483.00

Size Medium - 24 cm Diameter

N’hoval Cove, just outside Cork city, is reached only by a twisting, narrow road—an entry that doesn’t prepare you for the secluded drama within. The tidal inlet is framed by towering cliffs of iron-stained and ochre friable sandstone, their surfaces carved by wind and wave into sharp ledges and sea arches. I have explored East and West from N’hoval by kayak, moving quietly through openings and collecting the fragments left behind.

In an effort—small but intentional—to protect the cove’s wildlife, I have entombed the plentiful plastic debris in rock cairns along the shore, a plea for care. Many of the objects I find there become integral to my sculptural vessels: sand and pebbles pressed into clay to create textured strata and subtle colour, found clay used to embellish the rims of the sculptures.

The sweeping forms of these vessels emulate the creative and destructive forces that have carved N’hoval: undulating hills, eroded edges, and surfaces marked by abrasion and time. Each piece is a response to this place—an attempt to hold both beauty and rapture, to honour the landscape.

Created in three sizes, small, medium and large each vessels is a bespoke creation unique to each making session.
