Inspired by regular kayak trips to this calm and quiet part of the South West coastline, this piece honours a sheltered stretch of shore that shields us from the prevailing south-westerlies. East-facing buffs and golden coves reveal ochre and iron-rich mudstones: red and purple cliffs, water-sculpted formations and a striking sea arch that lends the place a primordial fragility.
Handbuilt stoneware, bellied form. Marbled stoneware base with coloured clay inclusions and a sandy, tactile body. The sweeping rim incorporates found native clay gathered at Dunny Cove.
